Early 1963 Bus with a Unique Look of Stock, Low and Cool Original 73k miles
Lowered on Wolfgang spindles and 68 type 3 4.12 rear swing axle, KYB white shocks. Empi camber compensator with a 67 bus front sway bar…this bus drives and steers flawless and excellent!
The engine is a 1776, with a new mag case, Berg sump and Berg pulley counter weighted crank ported 040 heads with Kadron Carbs. There is a Mazda RX7 radiator cooler along the frame rail, very nicely installed.
The body was painted with DuPont Chroma Premeir single stage paint. The paint and body lines are beautiful, very straight bus.
The interior is almost all original, door panels, rear seats, floor mats, center seat are original. Sapphire two AM/FM radio.For 50 year old interior is like a VW time warp.
Sun FZ NOS 1963 Tachometer, Berg locker bus shifter. These are the only non stock items in the cab of the bus, the rest is all stock. Very cool and subtle appearance.
All new rubber and seals. All pop outs where glass beaded, sanded and powder coated. Painted to match the color of the bus.
Original owners manuals and literature from new with a perfect original dealers license plate frame and other docs. VW comes from The Volkswagen, South Bend, Indiana. Dealers license plate frame is perfect.
The wheels are Empi sprintsters. The fronts where rehooped to 4.5 inch and the rears were moved in for a better fit with the tires. Continental 175 65 15’s on the front. 195 65 15’s on the rear.
This VW absolutely drives excellent, one of the best ones I’ve driven. The last owner owned for more than 16 years. Last owner bought it from the original owner where the bus sat from 1970 to 1998. Very solid and dry original bus.
